100,000-piso Centennial Commemorative Notes



Obverse

Features "Sigaw ng Himagsikan", a scene that brings to mind the struggle for independence and the cry of defiance against Spanish tyranny by Andres Bonifacio and his Katipunero on 24 August 1896.

Reverse

Features the glorious and triumphant scene of the Proclamation of the Philippine Independence by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo on 12 June 1898 in Kawit, Cavite. It was on this occasion that the Philippine flag, made by Marcela Agoncillo, was unfurled while the national anthem, composed by Julian Felipe, was played.

Remarks :The 100,000-piso Centennial Commemorative Notes - measuring 22cm by 33cm, it is the biggest legal tender issued by the BSP, both interms of face value and dimension. Only 1,000 notes were issued on the occasion of the 1998 Philippine Centennial Year. Recorded as the biggest note during that time in the Guiness Book of World Records.


2,000-piso Centennial Commemorative Notes


Obverse

Features the oath taking of the President Joseph Ejercito Estrada at Barasoain Church on June 10, 1998. It also shows the scroll of the Malolos Constitution with the inscription "September 15, 1898" and the Barasoain Church in the background.


Reverse

Features the reenactment of the declaration of Philippine Independence at Aguinaldo's Shrine in Kawit, Cavite on June 12, 1898 of former President Fidel V. Ramos to mark the Centennial of Philippine Independence with the logo of Philippine Centennial Commission.
